Exploring Two-and-a-Half D
This is the final project of my MFA thesis which is an exploration of my curiosity about how we perceive and interact with the world through our tactile sense. I stray away from the ocularcentric outlook of design and bring focus to designing for the tactile sense through two-and-a-half D posters.
Poster Design
“All senses are extensions of the Tactile Sense”
-Juhani Palasma, Eyes of the Skin
The posters were designed and exhibited with the intention of the viewers taking their time with the posters as well as the space around them. They were encouraged to touch them and lift the different layers to see how they changed with interaction. The change was also visible when they walked around the space. The words also become more legible from certain angles and certain interactions.
The posters are created by the layering of laser-cut grids.
